As we continue to experience rainy weather, we kindly ask for your support in reminding you son/daughter to be extra careful around outdoor areas as they me be wet and slippery. Following staff directions during these conditions help us keep everyone safe and prevent any possible accidents. If your child needs to bring an umbrella for dismissal, we highly recommend choosing one that can fit inside their backpack. During breakfast and lunch time, students will be kept indoors. We advise you to call our office ahead of time if you plan to pick up your/son daughter. Please ensure any calls in dismissal changes are made by noon (12PM). Thank you for your help and understanding!
Debido a que continuamos experimentando lluvias, les pedimos amablemente que recuerden a sus hijos que tengan mas cuidado en las áreas exteriores, ya que pueden estar mojadas y resbaladizas. Seguir las indicaciones del personal en estas condiciones nos ayuda a mantener la seguridad de todos y a prevenir posibles accidentes. Si su hijo necesita traer un paraguas para la salida, les recomendamos elegir uno que quepa en su mochila. Durante el desayuno y el almuerzo, los alumnos permanecerán dentro del colegio. The Somerton School District would like to congratulate our Transportation Director, Maria Villarreal, for receiving the Special Achievement Award from the Education Foundation of Yuma County Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor is awarded to a non-certified employee in Yuma County schools who stands out among colleagues and demonstrates a long-term commitment to education.
Criteria for this award include a strong and positive work ethic, exceptional dedication, and an influential presence that makes a meaningful difference within the school system.
Maria has proudly served the district for over 30 years and continues to do so with unwavering dedication, professionalism, and a big smile. We are incredibly proud of her and deeply grateful for her many years of service! We are looking forward to honoring her at the Legacy Gala on January 22, 2026.
